J.D. Martinez possibly heading to Boston Red Sox could increase rookie card value

For those collecting rookie cards that could see a bump in value are the ones belonging to great players going from a small market club to a big, historic market team.

With only a few months away until Opening Day, trade rumors and free agent signings will start to heat up.

For those collecting rookie cards that could see a bump in value are the ones belonging to great players going from a small market club to a big, historic market team.

Take J.D. Martinez for example who was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Arizona Diamondbacks last season. The Diamondbacks took a gamble signing the power hitting outfielder for the remainder of the 2017 season to give them an extra post-season boost.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out and Martinez became a free agent afterwards.

Now, he’s looking to sign with several team interested in his talent including the Boston Red Sox.

If he accepts the reported five-year offer, that could mean a nice bump in his value going from the Dbacks to the Bosox.

His 2011 Bowman Chrome autograph rookie card is currently available at a very decent price. Take a look below to see a few currently available on eBay.
