The power for the young Rangers third baseman is undeniable.
And Joey Gallo is getting plenty of playing opportunities with veteran and regular Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre still on the DL.
But it looks like Gallo hit another big slump this year as he did during parts of last season, which inevitably cut his playing time.
One way to look at players like Gallo is to invest in them now while they’re slumping as the value of their cards tend to see a dip in value – especially if they haven’t proven themselves at the big league level over a sustained period of time.
His 2012 Bowman Chrome Draft base autographed card (BGS Graded 9.5/10) sold this past week for just under $86.
If he can break out of his slump as his coaches are optimistic that he can, Gallo who can mash homers with the best of them can really see his card value trend upwards rather quickly.
Of course, some players can’t seem to adapt and their baseline becomes far lower than what scouts initially expected. That’s the definition of a boom or bust player.
Time will tell but as long as Gallo is pencilled into the playing roster, he deserved another look and patience is warranted.
