Fans of the Minnesota Twins and prospect chasers have been waiting for the power/speed combo that Byron Buxton possessed in spades coming up in the minor league system.
But his initial foray into the big leagues didn’t fare well for him with injuries playing a factor. This season though, he started off slow again and already seemed to have the boom or bust label on him.
His game last night against the Oakland Athletics, however, reminded us again of his potential. Look at this catch below:
Plus he hit a triple and showcased his speed by getting to third base in 10.73 seconds.
He also hit a homerun earlier this week and has begun to walk, which is enough for his stock to start trending up for some.
Then again, he’s still batting .158 in 76 at bats with just the one homerun and only three stolen bases.
It could be another buy low opportunity with his 2013 Bowman Chrome base autograph rookie card currently selling for $100. Or it might be more prudent to see more from Buxton before taking the risk in investing in him.
