But now that he’s an early favorite to win the Hart Trophy as the most valuable player in the National Hockey League (NHL), are the extraordinary value of his rookie cards worth every penny?]
The real question is, “Can the value of his cards climb even higher?”
While McDavid’s 2015-16 Upper Deck Young Guns “Black Label” rookie card worth nearly $12,000 still seems a bit inflated, I can better understand how someone could pay that price.
He’s just 20 years old and has already established himself as a current top five player in the league. McDavid will most likely add a Hart Trophy to his credentials and we’ll see how far he can take the rejuvenated Edmonton Oilers during this season’s playoffs.
The one card I’d be more tempted in investing in is his 2015 SP Authentic Connor McDavid autographed Future Watch card, serial numbered to 999.
It’s currently worth $1,500 on eBay but I suspect that to climb fairly soon.
