With the beginning of the 2017 season less than a month away, we’re looking ahead to see which baseball players are close to hitting some major milestones.
One name sticks out this season and that’s Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre.
The most notable milestone he’s likely to reach barring any early season-ending injury is to be the 31st member of the exclusive 3,000-hit club, joining the likes of Wade Boggs and George Brett. He’s just 58 hits away from that goal.
A couple of other offensive targets he’s fully capable of reaching is hitting 600 career doubles (just nine doubles shy) and 450 homeruns (currently five homeruns short).
Other players who have reached those three impressive marks include hall-of-famers Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, and Willie Mays to name a few.
If you’re an early planner, it might be worthwhile to pick up his rookie cards like his 1997 Bowman Chrome that’s seen a little upswing in value over the past few months. A PSA Graded 10 card is going for around $200 currently.
From a purely baseball fan’s prospective though, here’s wishing Beltre luck this season and padding his baseball resume for future inclusion into the Baseball Hall of Fame one day.
